Title: Messagewall Mail with Attachments Filtering Per User
Post by: webster on January 31, 2004, 09:56:00 PM
For those of you who haven't used messagewall its worth a look.... or if are and want to get more use out of it, heres some information on an alternate very effective way that I use it.

combined with procmail I think its the probably the best way to filter mail with attachment on a per user basis.

it has all sorts of spam blocking abilities,

it also uses the clam database to scan for viruses which gives some interesting stats, heres my server
http://www.sentry.co.nz/stats.php

But heres the thing from what I have found...you are best to leave antivirus to amavas and clam
and spam to SpamAssassin with the rbl lists running.

I have actually set the score on it really high so its only able taging the messages, if you set it too low, it rejects them creating extra traffic. then you end up getting bounces especially with spam and virus traffic.

Would there be interest in me writing a HowTO on filtering messages with certain attachments on a Per User Basis? Fill out the poll above so I know I'm not wearing off my fingerprints for Nothing!   if i get the interest I'll write some instructions and show you how to get rid of mails that have potential threats to your users

Don't need this myself, but I think it would be a nice addition...

Only it seems impossible to vote...

I would love to have something like this or at least a how-to on how to set it up and configure it to block particular attachments! :-)

That is the key!
