Title: apcupsd not working

SME 5.6u5
ups-type: APC SMART-UPS 1000 RM

first i enabled the nut-service, but i got no response from the ups.
then i installed the apcupsd-contrib from D.May.
i configured it and it does not work.
in /var/log/messages there is a line "Starting UPS monitoring:/sbin/apcupsd: Error :: Changing UPSTYPE from SmartUPS to BackUPS due wrong Cable of Smart Signals."
if i type "/etc/init.d/apcupsd start", it tells me "Unable to create serial port lock file"

the cable is the original that was shipped with the UPS.

what else do i have to check or configure?

Hi,

Im using the exact same ups on SME 5.6 and have no problems.

Have you disabled nut you dont need that, next have you choose the correct cable? on the bottom of the serial cable there should be a number 940 or something like that is that right?

You need for sure the signal cable 940-0024C. You can find this number on the male connector.
If you have a other one it will not work !

i will check the cable and do the config and test like in the posted url's.

will report the result.
