hi,
I have a laptop P120 - 32mo - 4go
With sme 5.6 or 6, the boot diskette does not function...
'install exited abnormally -- received signal 11'
The system stops on "looking usb controllers..." (console 3)
I don't have a USB port on this portable.
It's good with syslinux 1.48 (sme 5.5 and redhat 7.1)
It's good with syslinux 2 (redhat 9)
It's good with syslinux 1.67 (mandrake)
It isn't good with syslinux 1.52 (sme 5.6/6 and redhat 7.3)
Do you have an idea?
thank you

first:
your laptop will be a little weak for SME.
i use a AMD-350 with 128 MB an i think it's the absolute minimum.
what do you mean with "syslinux 1.52"?
cheers

I tested clarkconnect 2.1 on my laptop P120 with 32 mo.
kernel 2.4.20-28.9 syslinux 2.00
no problem!
I deduce that it is syslinux 1.52 witch has a bug.
:-( :-x
grrrr

I noticed that after a clean install of 6.0 final - the emergency boot disc was created without problem but when I came to create a re-installation disc I got alot of errors and the disc lite stayed on with the drive making this repeat noise as if going through the same loop.
I tried a new formatted disc (no bad sectors) and the same thing happened ?
(the logs where full of sector error msgs - cant rem exactly what now)
Has anyone else noticed this or shoudl I be getting a new FDD ??
