Hi, over the past few days we have had several power failures and this left qmail not working. I will detail all errors in order to give a full picture.
The first error in the qmail/current.log was:
unable to opendir info/20, sleeping...
After making sure fsck had run successfully and confirming it was not there, I recreated the /var/qmail/queue/info/20 directory and applied the same permissions the rest of these directories under info had (700).
The next issue was:
unable to opendir mess/11
Again after confirming it was not there, I recreated the /var/qmail/queue/mess/11 directory and applied the same permissions the rest of these directories under mess had (750).
I now have the following warnings coming up frequently and I don't have a clue what to do about them:
warning: unable to unlink info/21/xxxxxxxx
I fear that I may have done the first directory incorrectly as I used SSH Secure File Transfer to copy and paste info/21 before renaming it to info/20. I'm unsure how to check the real status of the file system and I don't know how qmail works to be ableto find which process I may have interrupted or how to fix it.
Can anyone please help. Thanks in advance,
Rob

First a litle hint: By using the search enginee google.com I found the answer to your question. I used the words "repair qmail", try it the next time you have some problems :-)
There is a "queue repair tool" at http://www.qcc.ca/%7Echarlesc/software/queue_repair/ that could be the problem solver.

Mats,
thanks heaps for that. I did (and do always) search Google but didn't try that combo of key words (I know it is obvious but hindsight is 20/20)
I will run this utility as soon as I can.
Thanks again,
Rob

No problem, just happy if I could help and in swedish we have a way of speaking:
The first thing you get blind on is the eyes ;-)
