Post by: Adam3k on February 08, 2004, 01:30:57 AM
Hey all,

Is there anyway of increasing the amout of user groups on sme server 5.6 ? When i click on groups in the server manager i get "There are already the maximum number of groups in the system. You cannot add more." Any info would be a great help.

I believe there is an inherent limit in Red Hat of 28 groups. Sorry.

Title: Group limit

The 32 group limit is Redhat is not for the system but actual a limit per user. You can have 65000 groups but an individual user can only belong to 32 of them. Is this problem possible caused by the admin account being part of all of the groups?
Thanks

As Jim is now aware see this post for a precise explanation why there is a 28 group limit that is not easily overcome.
