How does the VPN function in 6.0 workout for you?
-
Works great with XP as a client; seemless. Using it to allow client to then VNC to workstation inside the network.
If you want to address systems by name then point to the SME box as a WINS server.

Currently unable to VPN to my server 6.0final using XP client, whereas it worked (and still works) to 5.5 server.
Haven't had time to look into it?
Is there still an issue with the type of CPU of the server?

Hi,

I do the same when it works. I didn't know I could use the SME as a wins server.
Thanks for that tip - I shall try that tomorrow.

Can you elaborate on the processor issue? Are you saying that 5.5 was flawless where with 6.0 you get errors?
I can get it to work 100 percent of the time if I use my laptop and an Aircard - Sprint or Verizon. Using my Comcast Cable from home it is hit or miss.

I was unable to connect from home ( rogers cable , BUT my MySQL didn't work either! )
Just hassled my ISP ( Telus ) and mysteriously the MySQL problem has gone away! ( I also couldn't access a TELUS user manager page, which had an address near my fixed IP !!)
So I suspect some ports are being blocked inadvertently!
Either way, the VPN is a hassle I've given up on for now.

I thought with 5.6 you had to load a module according to the CPU type, athough i never did it, because I avoided 5.6 for this reason.
5.5 is flawless VPN from XP, my 6.0final seems to fail, but I haven't had time to look into it.
