Title: Jabber on 6.0final
Post by: patrick on February 17, 2004, 02:05:52 AM
Hi there.

I currently use e-smith-jabber-IM-0.0.1-5 on 6.0final which runs fine. (this was an install on 5.6 that was upgraded with no change to jabber)

I have found that jabber does not initialise on reboot and that the workaround is to disable jabber services in the panel then re-enable them.

Has anyone seen this happening, if so have you got a fix.

no errors are seen in the logs.

Just wanted to see if someone else has fixed this before I get under the hood.

cheers

Patrick Tehvand.

I have the same problem - and I perform the same function you do to restart.  Has anyone came up with a new JABBER build for 6.0 final?

Still no answer to this yet?  Looking for a new jabber install for 6.0+ that works?

There is change to the way services start in V6.0 and I havn't had time to look under the hood and find out what it is, but I suspect it it tied up with daemon tools.

you can always add the following line to /etc/rc.d/rc.local

service jabber start

This will restart jabberd after a restart.

The original author of the Jabber contrib is deperately seeking for time to update the jabber RPM. In the mean time any feedback that could help him is welcomed.
