Title: How to change "call home feature"?
Post by: webweave on February 19, 2004, 12:05:52 AM
On the admin screen there is a selection for testing to see if the server is online. When you select this the server attempts to contact the internet and reports if contact was possible.

I was told (by e-smith staff) that this function causes the server to contact the e-smith NOC to determine if it is online.

What if I want to change this?
Has there been a discussion or a HOWTO covering this?

Thanks,
;)

I usually just ping yahoo.com or cisco.com.  This will tell you if your on line or not.  This might be easier than trying to change the call home settings.

I was thinking more along the lines of  "as we get farther away from Mitel we should be documenting the previously undocumented". It would be nice if I could "point" this feature (when used) to call my colocated NOC instead.

Is there a name for this function?
Is there anyone who has gone through the code that could start me off?
