Title: Backup
Post by: Neririn on February 21, 2004, 11:31:03 PM
I want to take a ghost image of my SME drive to aid in restoring after a HD failure and reducing downtime.  I basically want the main aspects of a SME install that I can then restore a tape backup to.  Has anyone had experience, and success, with this?

Easiest solution is to use the backup to desktop function in the server-manager.  This creates a tarball of all configuration data, home dirs, and ibays.

Good luck!

Hi,

For emergency restore, I suggest you mondorescue.

We have used Acronis True image - www.acronis.com - to restore our SME 5.6 and 6.0 servers not only for failure recovery but for cloning our systems.

I'll give this a try.
