Title: SME 5.5 Can't access Externally hosted company website
Post by: drewjones on February 23, 2004, 12:07:02 PM
I want to be able to access company website on an external host.  I can access it in two ways -
www.mycompany.co.uk which looks to the internal server.

Or http://knowledgearena.mycompany.co.uk - when I try this from the network I think the SME Server again looks internally and says it can't be found.

The external host does not have a fixed IP that I can use.

There is an sbs2003 server on the same network which has specific roles which we dont want to add to, but could it assist access to the internet site without replacing the mail servers role

Is there a solution (preferably simple!.

Thanks in advance

Title: External Company Website

I have had this problem on 5.6, the solution I found that works, is to reconfigure the server from your fully qualified Domain name, to "yourdomain.local"
then in server manager panel setup a Virtual Domain using fully qualified Domain name. This will allow you to access external www.company website, and still collect mail for your Domain.
Hope this helps

???
Just configure a "host" named "www" for your domain and configure it "remote" with the correct (external) ip-adress.
