Title: Security
Post by: Monky-poo2 on February 24, 2004, 12:26:08 AM
I have SME 5.6 up and running. I haven't tested using network printers on it yet though.

Is 5.6 hack-proof from the Internet? I don't much care about whether people can hack it from the intranet side as it'll only be my family using it and somehow I don't think anybody there will have a great interest in hacking.

I want to use it as a gateway on my dial-up connection. Thereby hangs a further problem - I have a series of telephone numbers to use - if one doesn't work, I use the next. Will 5.6 cope with that?

2nd question - Doubt it.

1st question - What do you reckon? Of course not, leave something for long enough and someone will find a way - but its a better option than your XP setup.
