Title: How to replace old server (5.6) with another one (6.0)
Post by: markehle on February 24, 2004, 03:24:52 PM
Hello, Folks -

I have been using a 200Mhz machine to run a e-smith 5.6 mail server at my house for about 6 months and have been very happy with it, but it is dog-slow.

I bought a Compaq Proliant 1600 to replace it. I would like to install 6.0 on the new server.

My question is how do I migrate all the mail (and all my mail rules) and ibays and other stuff to the new machine?

I tried last night to netcat the homes folder to the new machine, but I screwed it up. The files came over, but I could not log on with my user accounts.

Is there a howto somewhere? What do I need to transfer over to capture what the old machine was, but upgrade to 6.0?

Thanks -

Mark
