Hi Thanks,
So i can fix my Spam but not the anti virus? anyway
if th exchange got more virtual domain how can i setup
the SME as a front line mail server?

Since Exchange 5.5 can not pick-up pop mail, you need some extra Software, then you can pick-up the (filtered) mail from your SME-Server.
Have a look at:
http://www.msexchange.org/software/POP3_Downloaders/
to find the Software.

I have done this recently with great success
SME collects mail for domain, scans with ClamAV and then Spamassassin, then forwards to a delegated Exchange server inside the LAN.
In the server panel under Email-Delegate internal mail server. place the IP of the Exchange server to forward to.
sit back and watch it happen

Thanks, I did that and works fine but my mail stoped after 1 day and i change back to Exchange. How can i check which one is causing the problem or which services stoped (Calmav or Spam)?

How many messages do you receive per day?
The reason I ask is these filters will add additional load on your SME server, so make sure it is up to the task. I have similar setups that do this alone (not used for anything else).
I had one server choke when a hub died. When I relaced the hub, the internal mail server spewed a bunch of messages the the gateway and down she went (my fault).
Needless to say, I upgraded the hardware to be on the safe side.
Check the logs and let us know.
There may be some messages still in the server at various stages of processing. There is a contrib that allows you to view messages in the queue.

OK - I've read most of the posts I can find.
I have an SME 6.0 which is passing mail to an internal exchange box.
I can set it to scan for spam (using swerts-knudsen's scripts - many thanks)
And scan for virii (using pagefault.org scripts - many thanks)
But I need a way to make all tagged spam divert to a central mailbox with a timed deletion.
I have tried Dungog's email filtering and the tmda seems to break my email completely. (though I've yet to try without tmda)
I'm using mondo rescue for my test server and have rebuilt 3 or 4 times since 4 this morning.
Is there an easier way ??
I need to avoid using procmail because the only users I have on the SME box are the people that need to vpn in. (not all the users on the exchange box)
Although - I could probably delete all the users and use the win2003/exchange2003 box for vpn - but I prefer to block the vpn at the SME.

gfi.com have some freeware products for exchange that may help you.

Sorry must be thick - I'm still confused about this. I want SME to scan incoming email with clam then pass on to an internal MS Exchange server.
Peter is saying
Since Exchange 5.5 can not pick-up pop mail, you need some extra Software, then you can pick-up the (filtered) mail from your SME-Server.
but sits post
Email-Delegate internal mail server. place the IP of the Exchange server to forward to. implies that I only need to delegate and SME will forward scanned mail or do I delegate to an Exchange server and run extra software to retrieve mail from the SME?
Thanks

If you host your own mail (SME is running as a SMTP server and your mx records point to your SME server) then delegate your exchange ip in server manager. You can also use your SME server as a smart host to scan mail leaving your exchange server.
When you delegate another mail server in server manager, the mail doesn't go anywhere near SME's user mailboxes and you don't need user accounts set up on SME. Because SME is accepting the messages on behalf of exchange, it isn't aware (or cares) if the mail is for a valid recipient or not as it only looks at the domain.
It works very well...

Although I'm still working on the maildrop implementation for sme - I found this:
http://www.ivasoft.biz/spammover.shtml
And have installed and tested - works great - and at $100 per exchange box - it's a steal.
