Hi!
Im trying to set up an SME server (latest release) on a Compaq EN deskpro.
It seems like the installation completed successfully but after rebooting the system it only show an L in the left corner. Its not possible to do anything, it stuck with the L..?
Any suggestions.
Best
Finn

You have reformatted a harddisk formerly used by a linux-system of some sort.
What you see is the remnant of an old Lilo boot record.
Use a DOS-diskette to start the machine, do fdisk /mbr and start your installation again from scratch.
The 'fdisk' command with the '/mbr' switch erases the master boot record so it's free for your new installation.
A damned annoying problem, but easy to solve, once you know the cure.

Hi!
Ahhhh, of course.
Never think of this machine was running Suse Linux a while ago:-(
That solved the problem, thanks a lot.
