Title: antivirus programs?
Post by: Garrett Smith on July 28, 2001, 09:24:51 AM
Greetings.

I'm looking for either a free or an inexpensive commercial anti-virus program that works with the e-smith mailserver.  I'm not worried about i-bays or network drives, pretty much all I'm looking for is something that scans message attachments and doesn't let nasty things through.

Anyone out there have experience doing this before (i.e., protecting not-too-bright users with Outlook)?

Good point Darrell,

Forgot about ' newbies' and how to assist them...

Thanks, I'll keep it in mind.

Alright, but you have to do it yourself though. Not EVERYTHING is free...

Good luck.
Title: Is anyone actually using qmail-scanner with e-smith?
Post by: Patrick Basile on August 25, 2001, 02:10:44 AM
Hi,

I'm trying to setup anti-virus on the cheap as well, and am wondering if anyone else has setup and is actually using this 'free' qmail-scanner?  If so is there specific tricks/tips/tasks for setting it up on my e-smith server?  In other words - is there any documentation yet?

Does anyone know of any other 'free' or cheaper commercial anti-virus software that will work (or is working!) with e-smith? (I know about RAV, but that seems fairly expensive at this point.)

Thanks for your input/ideas/opinions.

One last thing - I'm a Windoze guy by profession, BUT this e-smith server software and Linux keeps amazing me each day as I learn more and DO more with it - very nice work!  I just may be finding my way 'back from the dark side'. :)

Regards,
Patrick
