Title: D-Link 10/100 Nic problems!
Post by: Lee on July 30, 2001, 06:28:27 AM
Hello,

I just purchased the D-Link 10/100 Nic (DFE-530TX+ rev. D1)
at Circuit City yesterday and tried to install it in my my E-smith
server with no luck.

E-smith doesn't even "see" the ethernet card!  The strange
thing is that IF I plug in a OLD (similar model) D-Link 10/100 Nic (DFE-530Tx)
E-smith "sees" that ethernet card fine.  Any advice would be appreciated!

I've used that NIC  with the rtl8139 driver.  The 530tx uses a different chipset than the 530tx+.

man, I just took one of those back because it didn't work. Are there any other things that need to be addressed when configuring the driver for that NIC?

thanks,

steve

The quick answer to this is NOT to use the D-Link cards... They have different chip sets for the same model card.  For the cost of a different 10/100 card save yourself the bother and try using a generic realtek card.

Just my 2 cents.
