Title: ezmlm installation failure

I've just tried to install ezmlm on a 5.6 server (from Gordon Rowell's contrib. on ibiblio.org)  and hit a problem during the post-install phase. One of the events seems to be looping, per this extract from the message log:

I had to kill the parent process to get out of the loop. Can anyone shed any light on what is causing this?

I don't know what caused it, but I received the same error tonight when I ran signal-event post-upgrade on my SME5.6U5 server. No new software was installed.

I had to break out of it after a fair amount of time.

My /var/log/messages are:
