I have just recently done a clean install of 6.0 (previously using 5.5). Some clients (win98, winxp) that previously obtained an ip address from the dhcp server no longer do so. Others (win2000) do! Nothing changed on the clients. A ping to the SME server (192.168.10.1) results in "host unreachable.." error. Yet if I manually input the ip/gateway settings in the client - all is fine! Any clues where to start looking? Many thanks.

Look at:
service dhcpd status
You might try:
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event post-upgrade
/sbin/e-smith/reboot
If that doesn't work, go through the configuration on the server. Disable DHCP, then enable. Maybe change the IP address range that SME gives out.
I haven't had this problem, so I'm not sure what the problem is.

You could try the following:
Xp - From the command line
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
Win98
Start button
Run
winipcfg
Change to your ethernet interface and renew
