Greetings!
First time I am setting this up & want to set it up as gateway/server.
Currently running Netgear RT314 with cable modem and everything is fine. Want to get all the features of the e-smith server.
Running into problems with:
1) PPoE says that it was timed out and won't connect to internet.
Also need help with Netgear RT314 once connected to internet.
2) Still need to setup Netgear RT314
Any help would be appreciated.

Mike, i'm not trying to be rude but...
i dont see a point to have a crappy Netgear router (widely known for having HUGE problems), installed at the same time as e-smith.

Probably couse you are mixing 2 routers, that doesnt get along to well, when it comes to ports that are allowed and not allowed. You know, E-smith itself acts like a router/firewall/gateway, therefor my reply at the top.
I can see the point to having several computers connected at the same time, but then i rather suggest a switch instead of a router.
A good swith these days cost about the same as a router, and are far much better when it comes to loosing speed. With a hardware router, imo you loose speed.

Hi Peter, I have a RT-314, can you tell me the huge problems?
It was a PITA getting it running and it has a complex/proprietary filter language that makes it impracticable for me to use the filtering, but as a NAT layer between my local PC and webserver it sesms to be working ok. What are the biggest problems?
I admit, I wouldn't have bought it if I knew how hard the filter language is. I might as well have learned the newer IP chains language. At least, I would have a knowledge asset that has a wider usefulness. Learning the Netgear Firewall Language is so costly, dozens of hours it dwarfs the cost savings on the box itself.
Thanks
Todd
