Title: Samba User Folder Mount Point

Good Morning,

I was wondering if there was a share that I could map as an administrator that would show me all the user folders? As an administrator, I can view the folders by manually typing in \\servername\~username and view their home folder contents. I was wondering if there was a \\servername\home that would show me all the user folders underneath it so I could browse through my Windows Explorer to each of the users' home folders.

I have a Typing program that I'm installing and it allows for some advanced storage options that would require a network administrator or teacher in this case, to be able to scan all the user home folders for classroom management. This advanced storage option allows for more security within the program.

Good Evening,

Ok, I've rtfm and am still having some difficulties. I've tried this on 5.6 and 6.0. I've followed the directions at http://www.e-smith.org/custom which covers this issue in some detail.

I edit the 10globals file and basically copy information from the active smb.conf that details the information about an i-bay. I change the name, path, and comment. When I expand the template, it works on 6.0 and not on 5.6 right away. After I reboot the workstations, I can't log into the domain. This happens on both versions. Until I delete the 10globals file and re-expand the template, I can't log into the domain period. With 5.6 there's a little quirk and that is it won't let me log into the domain even after I do this. I have to change the domain name under the workgroup menu item in the server manager. After saving the change, I then change it back to what I had previously, and viola, everything works again.

Any ideas?
