Title: IP Change - what is it's purpose?

Does anyone know what the purpose of the cron job ip-change is?

I think it's for those who use dynamic dns, to check if the their IP has changed
and then fire up the respective client to update their DNS-entry e. g. on
dyndns.org

That's what I thought.  Do you know if I can remove it from my cron.weekly directory?  I have a fixed IP.

I noticed that it runs each week and thought I could remove it, but wasn't sure.

I really don't know.........sorry
