Hello all,
I have a proliant 2500/128mb/2*4.3gb scsi on emmbedded controller(NCR?).
When I install with option to create raid mirror it first says it can't create swap on md2, i say ok, thinking i can make it later and it transfers image and i see both hd leds in sync but as it starts to load packages the install crashes and says it received a "9" exit code or something (goes by kinda fast). I install on single drive all is fine. I'm a relative newbie on Linux, been playing with it for a month or so trying to set up a server for my church on the cheap. Other than the raid problem(would like to have the redundancy) I think this software is just the ticket for our needs.
Thanks in advance

I had the same problem, couldn't find a solution, so build a duron 750 system to do it on (£200).
Sorry I couldn't help.

I get the same error on a Compaq Presario 2240 using two 2G IDE HD.
This is the error message that I get:
Error creating swap on device md2
abnormally received signal 9 disabling swap
Then the install stops. Works fine with one drive. I tried both drives on the same controller, tried both drive on two different controllers, same problem. Tried both drives separatelly, they both work.

found this response by e-smith customer service in a different post:

We have a documented workaround to this problem on our Known Bugs page:
http://www.e-smith.org/bugs/index.php3?op=showBug&bugID=40
We have realized that the geometry on both disks must be the same for software RAID to work properly.
Thanks to Lophas for sending a report to bugs_AT_e-smith.com.

Thanks for the suggestions, but i tried that workaround, both drives are identical. Still get same error. I think i'll just get a hardware raid controller, easier and faster. Thanks again for replies.
