Title: Procmail UID errors

I have installed Procmail per the How to and updated Procmail to version 3.21 using the rpm from the Redhat site.

It appears to be working fine ie no server errors and the mail processing is happening.  I had quite a bit of fun getting the procmailrc configuration right :-) I think my problem comes from some of the previous mistakes in the procmailrc file.

The problem I have is MS Outlook 2000 (SR1) is reporting  an error (but mail is processed OK). The MS error is  "Your server has reported a UID which does not comply with the IMAP standard....."  Choosing the detail button gives -:
MsgSeqNum 1490, New UID 996997017. Prev UID: 996997028, Next UID: 0.
   Account:   LinuxServer
   Protocol:   IMAP
   Server:   192.168.0.1
   Port:   143

There are a large number of repetitions of the error dialog with different UIDs and the UIDs involved don't change each time the error dialogs appear.

How do I go about correcting the problem ?

Hi Mike,

that is hopefully not only a problem for us in NZ since I have exactly the same problem here (in Tauranga)?   ;-)

I am using the procmail version 3.14 that is part of the standard e-smith 4.1.2 installation. My installation is quite recent, I don't see any modfications in that area.

Unfortunately I don't have a fix for that problem. I would love to find a fix because I want to use procmail.

You could try to open a shell on your server, go into that user's folder (would be Maildir for his Inbox for example) and delete the ".uidvalidity" file. After restarting Outlook, it will reindex it's mails and the error won't come up ... till the next mail comes in. That's at least the result here for my testing overe the last days.

Please let me know whether you find any other solution because I am very interested to find a fix.

Mike,

E-smith is actually using wu-imap plus patches for maildir support.
