Help!
I tried to add memory to my Proliant 1600 server running 6.0 last night, and the new memory pitched a fight with the rest of the memory, and corrupted my hard drives (5, 9.1gig, raid5).
I tried to restore from a cd that I burned a few days back, using mondo.
The restore seemed to go ok, but I think that I told the mondo the wrong info, because now it just has LI
LI
LI...
on the screen forever(trying to run LILO?).
Anyway, I need to know how to reinstall GRUB onto the thing. How do I do it? And, what do I tell mondo next time so that it restores correctly?
Any help would be forever appreciated!
Thanks -

try booting from the CD and going into expert mode
run lilo from the command prompt (might have to use /sbin/lilo)
You didn't change any partitions or the raid configuration did you? If so, you have the lilo.conf to edit before you run lilo.
This would be a good time for a boot floppy!

since you were having the LI problem, I gave the LILO advice...
I must say that I can't remember if SME uses LILO or GRUB.
I WinSCP'd in, and my SME server has both lilo.conf and grub.conf files
If in fact it is grub, try grub-install /dev/[your device]

Well, I tried to re-install grub, but I could not get the settings right, so I did a fresh install of 6.0, and then tried to do a partial restore from the mondo archive, but it kept seg-faulting out.
I gave up and restored from a tape that I made using SME's backup to tape routine. I lost some stuff, but Oh, well...
Thanks for your help!
