Title: Delegate mail server question

If the delegate mail server defined in server manager is not available, will SME hold the email and attempt re-delivery or will it bounce the messages?  I am suspecting qmail will retry delivery for 7 days?

I need clarification on this.

In my experience, it has held the messages until the delegated mail server becomes available.
