Title: Load balancing Dual ADSL (pppoe)
Post by: Marcus Giles on August 08, 2001, 07:14:58 AM
Does anyone know a way to load balance (AND for redundancy) two pppoe ADSL connections on a E-smith server?
This is for the purpose of giving the inside LAN maximum bandwidth and not for the webserving side of e-smith.
Both ADSL connections need to be on ONE server, there is one server on this network and putting another on there is not an option for me.
Thanks for any help you can supply

I don't know if this would work - just an idea.

Install hub between e-smith and ADSL.

Both ADSL into hub, e-smith into hub.

add extra route into e-smith for the default route to second ADSL IP address.

Now e-smith should use which ever one is free.

(Incomming web etc will still go through the first ADSL line)

Have anyone try that ???? I'll love to try, can you show me step by step add route in e-smith box and I think must use 3 NIC ( 1 local and 2 for each ADSL ) ?? if it work I must apply more ADSL
