Title: E-Mail Problems
Post by: Bill Coghill on August 08, 2001, 03:38:15 PM
I have an E-Smith server setup for Server Only mode to do E-Mail and File Sharing on my network.  We are connected to the net through a NetGear ISDN Router that also acts as firewall and net gateway.

I have edited the host for WWW to point to the router and net access is fine.

The problem is that I can't get my Win98 boxes to collect mail from the e-smith box.  The mail is getting to the mail boxes (I can see it in .../Maildir/new), but Outlook reports that it is unable to connect to mail.e-smith.citylive.com.au, with an error number : 0x800ccc0e.

I've tried setting it up to look for mail.citylive.com.au but still no avail.  Could this be a DNS setup problem ?  I don't mind that external mail still goes to and comes from the ISP - in fact I need it until I can get the internal E-Smith system working OK and then do the full migration over a weekend.  Its just the e-smith internal accounts that don't work.

Where do I start looking ????

Bill.

What happens if you setup Outlook to connect to your internal
Server-IP instead of "mail............." ???
