:lol:Has anyone done it? if so how?
-
It's really quite simple.
(In server manager) first create an ibay (under 'Collaboration->Information bays') then create a new virtual domain (under 'Configuration->Domains') and point it to the ibay (the description field will be the denominator).
Then you can browse the domain from the formula http://mydomain.xxx/virtualdomain or, if you created it as an extension to your primary domain from the formula http://virtualdomain.yourdomain.xxx
But read the manual. It will tell you so much more !
Btw. Remember to load its 'html-folder' with htm-documents, one of which must be 'default.htm' or 'index.htm' (just so you have something to browse)!

Thank you for your very prompt reply. I obviously didn't give enough info. I had already done the things you mention and I can see both domains on my SME by going to http://mydomain.xxx/virtualdomain or http://virtualdomain.yourdomain.xxx. However what I need is from the internet to be able to see either domain when coming in on a single IP address. All I should need to type in my browser address line from where ever I am is "www.domain1.com" or www.domain2.com" not "www.domain1.com/domain2" do you see what I mean? I need the SME web server to scan the header of the request coming in and direct it to the correct area on my server.

You need to register your second domain and create on the outside DNS server address record for it, pointing to the same IP of your server.
-
Thank you for your input. Yes, both of the domains are registered with my ISP and point to the same address. However if I browse from outside my location I can only see the domain that resides in the primary area of my SME server. I never get the web page of the second domain even though I type www.domain2.com. I read somewhere that the http.conf file may need to be configred but I dont have the syntax for this. Has anyone got any experience of having multiple web sites using one IP address on a SME server

It was a SME version that had a bug re: virtual domains.
What version are you using?
-
Hi Boris, I am using Mitel Networks SME Server 6.0
-
Not the 6.0 beta?
-
Yes, I'm sorry the Rel6.0 beta3 update to be exact.
-
Check the changelogs, bug lists and then upgrade to final 6.0 or 6.0.1, there this bug is fixed.
