Hello!
I just installed the SME server 6.0.1 and I have the folowing question:
My machine has 4 network interfaces:
an usb adsl modem and eth0 ... eth2.
The roles are the folowing: WAN, LAN, DMZ and Wireless LAN.
My question is how to add the extra two interfaces to the
system later (at install time is not possible) and how to set up the firewall...
thanx,
VEDW

Sorry for the wrong subject:
THREE OR MORE NICs was intended

I think you've picked the wrong tool for the job.
SME is not really designed for this and firewall feature. It’s not the primary objective, but rather extra bonus to multifunction server.
You probably can do it with some hacking and where are how-to's to help you with this, but I would try something different (IPCop, http://www.mikrotik.com/ , m0n0wall) as a firewall and host SME server, if needed, behind it.

Set e-smith up with 1 NIC. Install 4 port switch/router that contains the Wireless LAN, DMZ., DHCP. Cost about $100.00 or $30.00 if you don't have the wireless portion. Use a uplink(crossover) cable between the 4 port device and your larger network switch. You may need some support on setting up the 4 port router/switch but its normally an 800 call to the manufacturer.
Remember to disable DHCP on either the 4 port Router or SMC server - I prefer to disable on the server.

Ken,
I think vedw's got your point.
You don't have to explain it for each of the port on the switch :-D
I know about refreshing pages in the browser, you don't have to explain, just take a smile.
