Title: Strange problem with ghost user in a group
Post by: julian on March 23, 2004, 01:54:37 PM
Dear All,
I've got a group called almosteveryone because we want to leave a few people off of the everyone pseudonym. A couple of users have left but they are still getting bounced when we use that group. I've had a look in /etc/group and they're not there.
This is the bounce.

Subject: failure notice

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at academyfilms.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

<anna@robin.academyfilms.com>:
Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. (#5.1.1)

Wahay!! Just found the answer. I thought I might as well post this in case anyone finds it handy.

There is a file called /var/qmail/alias/.qmail-almosteveryone that wasn't being updated. Just manually removed the offending entries.

The server was 5.6 with all the updates.

All the best,
Julian
