Title: Upgrade => Webmail error with SQL connect
Post by: Beast on March 23, 2004, 09:14:56 PM
Hi All

I upgraded and changed hardware for my private server.
Almost everything is working OK, the only exception is the webmail system. It comes up with the following error when trying to log in.

***

A fatal error has occurred:

DB Error: connect failed

[line 108 of /home/httpd/html/horde/lib/Prefs/sql.php]

Details have been logged for the administrator.

***

I looked up the PHP script at line 108 and it only does a connect to the SQL database (mySQL)

What can I do about it?

Thanks
Beast

Title: MySQL is running

Installed PHPMyAdmin to see if MySQL is running - this is the case. All Horde tables except 'pref' is empty - do not know if this is OK?

Tried to perform IMAP connections from a win client with no problems.

Now it is working !!!!!

follow this:

/sbin/e-smith/config setprop horde DbPassword horde
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event post-upgrade

Erased all records in the preferences table with PHPMyAdmin

Restarted the server.

GREAT

I've seen this similar post several times over the last couple months. Is it just me? I'm no wiz but doesn't posting the password to one of your sql databases seem inherantly unsafe? And accordingly what purpose does it serve to have the same password on every one of the servers running a specific brand of software. Just my two cents, spend it where you'd like.
