Title: SME / RAV n00b - Question regarding updates.
Post by: sgt-spam on March 23, 2004, 09:59:44 PM
As the subject says, I don't have much experience (yet) with SME and RAV.

I inherited a SME box running RAV not long ago, and that RAV subscription has expired.

How might I go about disabling the update, but allowing RAV to continue to scan the system?

My searches did not reveal what I *think* I'm looking for.

Thanks!

Scanning with RAV without updates is pointless IMO.  New viruses are the biggest risk and it won't pick them up.  I'd ditch the RAV and install Clam AV/Amavis from dungog.net.  Minimal price and easy to use.  A replacement for the RAV spam software would be ASSP.  I like it much better than spamassassin for our server.  I too used to have a RAV SME server, too bad microsoft bought them out.
