Hi,
I saw a post few days ago that webmin does not work with SME. Well, it does with a simple tweaking.
First:
#download the latest rpm package of webmin:
wget http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/webadmin/webmin-1.130-1.noarch.rpm
Second:
#create the file "redhat-release" in the /etc directory
pico /etc/redhat-release
#and type
Red Hat 7.3
Third
#install the webmin rpm package as usual:
rpm -Uvh webmin-1.130-1.noarch.rpm
Fourth
#Login to the server as follows:
http://SERVER-IP-Address:10000
username: root
password: YOUR-ADMIN-PASSWORD
That's it.
Why would someone like to install webmin on SME server? Two reasons:
1. To test.
2. To see a new prospective of SME and to have few additional functions.
Enjoy

So doesnt this mess with the templates system as before people have stated that it doesnt work because of sme servers unqie templates...
take look at thread http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=8780.0
somone said in there that if you modify with webmin it will be overwritten by the sme templates.

It could be. But at least we can now start the testing. Right :-)

Sure, right up until the next event fires and the configuration files are clobbered by the templating system.
Webmin and SME work around very different principles and paradigms. They are not compatible.

if someone is able to modify webmin that it can handle the SME template-system, than webmin will be compatible with SME.
by so far don't play around with webmin on a SME system.
cheers klaus
