Title: Firebird Installation Help
Post by: ChrisBuechler on April 01, 2004, 06:46:05 AM
Can someone explain this to me

[root@linux1 /]# rpm -e  /home/e-smith/files/ibays/rpms/files/FirebirdSS-1.5.0.
4290-0.i686.rpm
error: package /home/e-smith/files/ibays/rpms/files/FirebirdSS-1.5.0.4290-0.i686
.rpm is not installed
[root@linux1 /]# rpm -ivh /home/e-smith/files/ibays/rpms/files/FirebirdSS-1.5.0
.4290-0.i686.rpm
Preparing...                ########################################### [100%]
package FirebirdSS-1.5.0.4290-0 is already installed
[root@linux1 /]#

I'm not sure if it's installed or if it isn't -- I'd like to just un-install and re-install

I used a database tool on another computer and tried to access my SME server -- and it said connection was actively refused -- so I'm guessing there's some security setting I need to do to open that up -- any advice?

Thanks

What port does Firebird listen on?  It is probably being blocked by IPtables.  It could also be that you are trying to log on to it without permission?  Do you have to set up an account with it first?

By default, the database runs on port 3050.  And I'm using the default user name / password of SYSDBA / masterkey  which works fine on the windows server version of Firebird.

Thanks

Generated password for SYSDBA: /opt/firebird/SYSDBA.password
