Title: SME as a Domain Controller
Post by: hayesbro2 on April 11, 2004, 10:05:57 AM
Hi,

I just set up SME 6.0.1 and set it as a domain controller.  When I go to add my XP Pro machine to the domain it brings up the dialouge where I type in the admin name and password.  Then a screen pops up that says

"Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user, using more than one user name, are not allowed.  Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again."

Here's what I have done so far:
-Enabled using the box as a domain controller
-Enabled DHCP  (I also have a router that I have set to act as a DHCP server [Netgear MR814], but I have both devices set to give lease out #'s in a different range to prevent conflicts.)

I am lost at this point, any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I don't know that this is correct or not but I would try turning dhcp off on the router as otherwise the sme server may not be sullying the machines with their I.P. and may not recognise then on the lan.

This error is caused when you have another windows connection on your xp box to the server.

You need to unmap any network drives you have already linked to. To do that you need to open windows explorer and under tools there is an option called "disconnect network drive" once you have disconnected you should be able to join the computer to the domain.

Remember to add the registry update as well.
