Title: Portforwarding and SMTP
Post by: sureshande on April 16, 2004, 09:38:37 PM
Hi,
I have created two portforwarding rules for using pcAnywhere 11.0.
prot---SrcPort-----DestPort----DestAddress
TCP--(1-65535)-----5631-------192.168.1.33
UDP--(1-65535)-----5632-------192.168.1.33
I have accessed the computer(192.168.1.33) from outside the network using pcAnywhere without any glitches.
But incoming mails stopped coming to my mail server. I tried to telnet port 25 from outside the network. It was unable to establish connection.
Once I removed the portforwarding rules, everything worked fine. I have started receiving incoming e-mails.
Can anyone diagnose the problem. I feel there is something wrong in the portforwarding rules, esp. the source port.
I am running 6.0 in "server and gateway mode"

Thanks in advance
Suresh Ande

Try changing your forwarding rules to
Quote

prot---SrcPort-----DestPort----DestAddress
TCP----5631--------5631---------192.168.1.33
UDP----5632--------5632---------192.168.1.33

hi bobk,
thanks a lot.
it works....Since the source ports are also 5631 and 5632 forwarded in the router, I shud not have kept a range of ports for the souce port.
My mail server also works fine as of now.

Thanks
