Ok, I know that it can be set up so that you can have all the home directories on one disc, and your opperating sys on the other, (I don't know how to do it, just know it can be done!). My question is this tho. I have several small discs, so rather tahn having to buy a new large disc and still have the small ones sat around doing nothing, is it possible to somehow get linux to merge this discs together and just see tehm as one larger storage location?
Thanks,
Phil

U can define the disk for a specfic directory like :
1 disk for /home
1 disk for /var
etc ...

I was thinking tho that most of the storage would be happening in the home directory, and was wondering if it is possible to split this across 2 smaller discs, (without having to explicitly detail which disc each users home directory should be on).
If I did do your previous method where would I make these changes?

No, I think you have to decide which users ibays etc go on each disk yourself.

Consider LVM (Logical Volume Management)
