This shouldnt happen i am rebooting your system now.
Have i got the right ISo,can someone point me to the correct one.
Also does it need to be installed where the internet is connected to, does it work on wireless networks?

Hi, Carl
First of all, read the 'Technicians Handbook' on this site (You find it under Documentation -> Manuals).
Then decide whether this is actually the distro for you.
Then lets take your technical problems from there.
The reason I put it like this is that your machinery must meet with certain standards if you want it to run SME 6.
These standards are documented in the 'handbook' mentioned above, and when you read it, you get the answers to many questions you might otherwise put here.
Do it this way, and you will get a much better basis for asking the 'right' questions later on.

Hi, i have read the technicans handbook, i will be using as Server Only as i have a router.
But will it work with wireless? or will it need to be hard wired - i have got a ethernet card but will it have the drivers for it?
It is a PC Line 10/100 Lan Card from PC World.
Thanks in Advance
Carl

For all questions about hardware compatibility check out http://hardware.redhat.com/hcl/. Make sure you look for the compatibility list for Red Hat 7.3 if you're wondering about SME v6+ compatibility.

Did you check the md5sum of the downloaded ISO? A download or burn gone subtly wrong would produce errors. Bad RAM in the machine would also cause problems, as would too little RAM.

I have to agree with Msmith.
I too had a similar problem when I first tried to load it, my problem was two fold - the cd rom used to boot from was too old, it was only a 32x speed, so make sure that your cd rom is 52x speed.
I also had to reburn the ISO image at a slower burn speed. It may take a little longer but at least you will be assured of it burning properly. Do this and you should have no problems.
With regards to the ethernet card, this server software is very good and recognises most of the well known ethernet cards, there should be no need to install any new drivers. ( Not sure about PC Worlds own make though *YUK* )
Other users have commented in the past that wireless lans do work, so again, you should have no problems.
Hope this helps

lol I installed my SME with an 8 speed CD-Rom, but still it works fine :) (Even if it did take a little while to install!)
