Does SME 6.01 support sata hardrives and if so do you need drivers for SME to work

For all questions about hardware compatibility check out http://hardware.redhat.com/hcl/. Make sure you look for the compatibility list for Red Hat 7.3 if you're wondering about SME 6.0.1 compatibility.

If I'm not mistaken, SME will not support Serial ATA out of the box. You may be lucky in that the motherboard or SATA card you are using may have a Driver available that you can use.
I had installed a Promise s150 TX4 in a dual PII Dell. The supplied drive did not work with the SME Server as it was compiled with a latter version of the Linux Kernel. After several days of downloads and attempts to install the development environment to 'build' a new driver, the attempt was abandoned.
There is an increase in the support for third party drivers for Linux, but backward compatibility is an issue still. It will be forums like this that drive the dreaded M$ out of the server rooms.
