Hi all,
I would like to be able to shut down internet access for certain users during certain hours. Preferably I would like to set a max amout of time they can be on the net. I run SME 6.0 in server only mode behind a router that has direct acces to the internet. Does it need gateway/server mode to make it happen? The router has some basic filtering capabilities but not what I'm looking for. Anyone have any suggestions for how I might make that happen?

I think your out of luck with SME in server only mode. If you get it into server/gateway mode and run all your traffic through it, you can set up "groups" in squidguard to enable or disable web access based on the use and time of day. I have not seen a GUI to set this up but there may be one. I also have not seen any way to restrict access to x number of hours per day.
Dans Guardian may have more of what your looking for but I'm not sure as it's more of a commercial package.
