Title: is there a browser already installed in e-smith 6.01?
Post by: ldavies on May 02, 2004, 12:29:05 AM
And would I therefore be able to fire it up inside putty or something similar?

If there is no browswer preinstalled can someone recommend a good one for e-smith.

The reason for all this is my netgear wireless router is crapping out on me when I move files from the lan (where I download them to) to the the e-smith server.

Thx

You may want to post more info on exactly what you want to do.

Is there a web browser:- Yes Lynx

If you want to to get a single file via http from the command line then try wget

# wget http://somewhere.com/somefile.rpm

If instead you want to copy a file across the lan (file browser) then we need to talk about samba or mounting.

Lynx is a TEXT based browser. It does not display any graphics or frames. To access a website with Lynx just type lynx http://www.somewebsite.com

Navigate the site using the instructions at the bottom of the screen.
Code: [Select]
Commands: Use arrow keys to move, '?' for help, 'q' to quit, '<-' to go back.
Arrow keys: Up and Down to move.  Right to follow a link; Left to go back.
