I am confused as to how everything ties together with regards to having sn SME box available to bot intranet & internet(and other remote access).
Firstly, i have everything setup at a local level to a point that is great.
Intranet:
-Users can use email/webmail locally.
-www.mydomain.com redirects to http://servername.
-putty works to ssh in.
-dyndns setup so that mydomain.homelinux.com shows http://servername
Internet/remote:
i have registered www.mydomain.com with a registrar, and can now login to modify dns records and setup hosting.
-people seem to be unable to see "mydomain.homelinux.com" or the ip address to go with it (dynamic dns through isp).
-havn't configured mydomain.com dns records. what dns records do i use? since its dynamic over isp, i assume this might not be possible since dns would constantly be changing... so then:
-what external email server would i use?
Any help would be appreciated. I'm a little confused right now, but so far, SME Server has been absolutely fantastic.
Cheers.

this was me... forgot to sign in.
btw. I have SME Server set up as a server/gateway.
-also, from intranet, no emails ever go to any non intranet addresses, ie. hotmail. What email server should i use? ISP, or web hosting(through 3rd party host provider) one?
also, are there any how to's that explain the concept overall? I have checked but couldn't find any...
once i work this out, i might write one myself.

Hi, Cydonia
Have you read the Technicians Handbook located under Documentation on this site.
If not, do so now.
It explains all the basics of the concept.

wyron.
you mean "6000_tech_handbook_en.pdf"?
I couldn't find much in there... what heading is it under?
I did find some in the admin guidebook though...
I was hoping there would be a for dummies explanaition somewhere:P. Like i said, once i understand all this, i might write one up...
