I've just installed the e-smith gate/server here at home and I'm having some problems...perhaps someone out there may be able to assist me?
I'm running it on a P100, 1GigHDD, 32megs RAM and two ACERLAN ISA NICs, which ran fine under FreeSCO, and Debian, using the NE2000 drivers.
I've been able to get the first nic to grab an IP address from the @Home server (via DHCP), however, the second nic never seems to initalize. If I swap eth0 with eth1, the same thing happens. Furthermore, e-smith seems to want to start DHCP services on the external network card, rather than eth1 (internal), since there's apparently only one card resident in the machine (as far as e-smith is concerned).
The funny thing is that if I use eth0 for the external interface, it appears as 0x280 in /proc/ioports, and if I use eth1 for the external interface, it appears as 0x260 in /proc/ioports. So they both WORK, just not at the same time. You can, no doubt, understand my frustration.
Your replies are appreciated.
Cheers,
Mike
