Title: email problem

my friends and i got the email login problems

( it happen from 29th may, before it work perfect)

each time i try to login using outlook, get this message"There was problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected..", but i can login througt webmail panel. and one of my friend have the same problem. my other two friends they can use outlook, but couldn't login by webmail;

i try to reinstall sme, but get same problem, can anyone help?

please provide more details. Sounds like  a misconfigurement of outlook.

my email setting:
out going is SMTP (25)
incoming POP3 (110)

Since i setup the account, it worked for 6 months over, i did not change any settings, i installed clamd antivirus and spamass one month ago, i setup automative update daily, the problems happened 3 days ago, my friends have the problems also 3 days ago. we using different iSP ( i'm in optus cable , one of my friends using telstra or TPG and westnet), may it be the antivirus update cause problems or I have hacked in?

the error message from outlook like this:

"There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'mail.mydomain.com.au', Server: 'mail.mydomain.com.au', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR authentication failed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92"

I have tried use different pc (3 different pc which run win98, xp, and 2000) and i try to use IMAP, but still can't long in, the IMAP message"LOGIN failed

Configuration:
   Account: mail.mydomain.com.au
   Server: mail.mydomain.com.au
   User name: admin
   Protocol: IMAP
   Port: 143
   Secure(SSL): 0
   Code: 800cccd1
"

anyone go idea?

Sounds difficult. I would do the following: reset the password on the SME Machine and try out IMAP/POP. Make a new user on the SME and connect with a newly made Outlook account. Passwords on SME are case sensitive, consider this. Onto logging in, check the messages log of the SME machine (console, less /var/log/messages). Compare the Outlook versions (help, about OL) with your friends and check all settings twice. Turn ClamAV filesystem scan off. And finally if you want to make a ssl connection, use port 995.
