Title: Does anyone know how to force SMTP to send local mails only?
Post by: FanFan on June 19, 2004, 04:37:33 AM
Hi,

Is anyone know how to set SMTP to send local mails only? That is, how to reject non-local mail? I remember e-smith used to have this kind of security feature before. But when I tried SME 6.0.1 recently, all non-local mails were sent out. Thank you for any help.

Hi, your Question seems unclear to me:

E-smith must try to send out non-local mail, that is mail not destinated to yourdomain.com. If you do not internet-mail, you should perhaps use the server-only mode.

E-smith blocks or even rejects mail, that is not adressed to a valid mailbox at your domain. That is configured in the "email-settings" at the server-manager. You can even force to reject spam-mail, before it enters your system by using mailfront. See big HowTo here at contribs.org.
