Title: pptp VPN from one SME to another
Post by: Anonymous on June 21, 2004, 07:16:33 PM
It appears my last post was lost, and I will post again.  Has anyone had success binding two (or more) SME servers via FreeSWAN or any other PPTP solution?  Is there any howto or the like?  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi - pptp-client works well. I have set up several SME to SME pptp tunnels using this. Search for pptp-client or pptp tunnel. I have a howto if you need it.

I have put up a quick howto here http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~brian/pptplinuxclient.htm
I last had a server to server pptp tunnel up on SME 5.5U6 but am sure it will work with SME6 if you d/l the correct iptables version of pptp-linux.
I will try and setup a SME6 to 6 this weekend.

Title: FreeS/WAN has been done too

Even though that project has officially ended ... here's a thread that will help.

Except, DON'T USE 5.5.  It'll get hacked.  I haven't done anything with 6.0 myself but have had a 5.6-to-5.6 FreeS/WAN link running for about 18 months now with very few issues.  I'm probably going to switch to hardware VPN routers though, as they're so cheap now.
