Title: Installation problem
Post by: Bosco on June 24, 2004, 06:43:13 AM
Hi All,

I have recently downloaded 6.01 and burned an image to CD with nero 6.latest.  WHen trying to install, I get a kernel panic as follows:

crc error <6> freeing initdr memory 1573k free
ext2-fs: unable to read superblock
cramfs:wrong magic
fat:unable to read boot sector
isofs_read_super:bread failed, dev=09:00
kernel panic:vfs: unable to mount root fs on 09:00

I have downloaded the iso image again, thinking it may have been corrupted, but I still get the same message.

Any ideas?

Thanks to all in advance and regards

Title: Problem on installations
Post by: Jáder on June 25, 2004, 01:22:47 AM
Last time I got this error was because ACPI (power managemente) AND USB didn´t like SME.
I take both of them down (ACPI->PMI or somethink like that) on BIOS and was able to install.

I´m not sure why... but it worked! ... so I´m happy for now.

I appreciate if someone could tell me why... that was a SME 5.6![/quote]

I had a friend that was getting similar reports. Turned out to be bad memory.
