Hi All,
I have recently downloaded 6.01 and burned an image to CD with nero 6.latest. WHen trying to install, I get a kernel panic as follows:
crc error <6> freeing initdr memory 1573k free
ext2-fs: unable to read superblock
cramfs:wrong magic
fat:unable to read boot sector
isofs_read_super:bread failed, dev=09:00
kernel panic:vfs: unable to mount root fs on 09:00
I have downloaded the iso image again, thinking it may have been corrupted, but I still get the same message.
Any ideas?
Thanks to all in advance and regards

Use md5sum program on the downloaded image.
You should be able to find the md5sum on the site where you download from. It will be in a text file.
If the md5sum on the download site and the md5sum that you make of your download dont match - you have a bad download.
If they do match - suspect your hardware - try new ram for example

Try a different brand of CD Reader, many times I have found this to be the problem.

Also try and burn at the lowest speed possible with your equipment. I have had problems with Nero burns at high speed.

I had the same problem. So I installed the system using p233 machine and then transferred the drive over to the intended machine.
Worked fine that way.
