I have recently upgraded from 5.5 to 6.0.1 and am having a few problems and would be grateful for some advice. With 5.5 I set the connection (dialup) to continupous and controlled the connection by turning the modem on and off. Within 10 secs of turning the modem on it was dialling.
With 6.0.1 this does not happen despite the fact that retry-count=0, dial-fail-limit=0 by default and I have not altered these.
In order to get the gateway to dial I have to enter 'service diald restart' every time. This is more a pain than anything else but would like to overcome it.
A few thoughts - I wonder if it has something to do with the 'new' computer which has 6 installed. 5.5 was instgalled on a very old Cyrix 133 but 6 is installed on a PII 333 or thereabouts. Could this be something to do with the serial ports that the modem is connected to or is it soemthing to do with ES6?
Thanks for any suggestions (to a relative newbie!)
