Is it needed to update to a later version from 4.1.2? Im currently testing a website out based on postnuke.

PHP 4.1.2 is ancient, luckily it is easy to upgrade to a newer version.
PHP 4.3.7

There is a forum thread on upgrading PHP:

There is a script which shows what to do:

At the moment 4.3.7 is the most recent, there are no RPMs for PHP 4.3.8 or 5.0
